Bedding question
« on: January 02, 2019, 02:51:18 PM »
I plan to bed my model 70, post 64.

I don't know if I will bed the entire action, but I will at least bed the recoil lug.

Does anyone have any experience bedding the barrel shank?  For my rifle this would be the first 1" of the barrel forward of the action, before the taper begins. The barrel is a #5 contour benchmark.

Wondering if bedding the shank is recommended for model 70s or if the barrel should remain untouched.

Good question.  Will have the same delima soon with a different rifle.   At this point I am think of bedding the recoil lug, and maybe the rear of the action.  Will wait to see how it looks in the stock to decide.
