Colony traps for mink

Do any of you guys multitask your muskrat Conley traps for mink as well? Do they work well? Do you have to modify them at all to make them more useable? Or do you use more single door mink specific traps? Also, do you/can you bait in full submerged traps? I found a pretty potent smelling paste that might work well for that type of application but didn’t know if i was out of whack with that thinking. Thanks for the help/tips.

You might try those colonies as bottom edge sets for mink.  A visual bait in a place like that wouldn't hurt either. Something like a crawdad or small fish impaled on a wire to make it look like it is swimming in place.

Ok thanks! Is there a chance they pop the doors back open? And get out. I’m going to set a few in Thursday, dry land, and try it out as well. Just seeing what works and what doesn’t

I think you should follow the advice already posted in another thread about setting your traps up for mink especially so if set on dry land.

ill do some digging for it. thanks! the terminology with all of this is like a foreign language to me, but i feel im picking it up quickly enough. lots of you tube and the occasional questions here. thanks again!

I've tied and orange crawdad fishing rubber inside them before. Mixed results. Definitely caught a few that otherwise wouldn't have yielded mink.

Reccomend setting shallow bottom edge sets that mink will see in warm weather while on land and cold while in water.

Setting muskrat runs will yield occasional mink at best

I have found that my 7x7x24 colony traps won't hold a mink unless it is completely underwater and most of the time they will get out of them even if they are underwater.  I like a single door 7x7x24 trap baited with beaver or rat for mink.
