Ticks already?!
« on: February 02, 2019, 08:07:25 PM »
In the last week I've pulled a total of 37 ticks off of my two dogs! Most of them are coming home on my WPG when we come out of the woods, but I think the little Maltese is picking some up in the back yard too. I don't normally start seeing ticks until May but I think I'l have to start the WPG on her NexGard now instead of in April like normal.

Anybody else seeing ticks already?

Without a doubt, this is the mildest winter I’ve ever seen in my life.

I think 76-77 and 80-81 beat it handily.   But maybe you weren't around :chuckle:

Already! Non stop this year on my yellow lab. No break from last year. Been this for for last couple of years where I live. I think this is the way its going to be now with our climate change. Out running the lab late this afternoon, frogs croaking everywhere!

Sure hope not. I was crawling around on my property 1/2 the day today chunking up blowdown. Also walked the pack (5 dogs) on our trails with no ticks found...yet. Reminder to up all your flea/tick pup treatment with s possible bad bug season looming.

Pulled one off me, and 3 off the dog the other day in Pierce Co. I usually put the dog on Nexgard January thru June.

Me and my walker stumbled right into that one.

Even here on the east side, the only times I've not picked up a few ticks are late November - early February.  It seems to synchronize pretty closely in the Wenatchee area with when the roses are dormant - most of the roses in my neighborhood broke bud dormancy last weekend, so I expect early ticks this year.
As long as we have the habitat, we can argue forever about who gets to kill what and when.  No habitat = no game.

I had a dandelion growing in my dog kennels a few weeks ago. Didn't feel like winter at all until now. What really sucks is the snow we have will probably just insulate all the bugs and bees from the cold we are gonna get.
