121 youth hunt
« on: April 03, 2019, 08:25:01 AM »
Been killing a little time the last few mornings bumming around looking for birds. Roads in this Southwest corner of the unit were in good shape, but rain today and in the forecast will probably change that. Still patchy snow higher but gone down around the lake.  Birds have definitely spread out and are on the move. Flocks I saw Monday morning were gone Tuesday morning. Not really seeing birds in some of the usual spots and seeing some where I normally don't. Noisy on the roost around 5:30 and flying down around 6:00.  Later today because of the overcast.  Not all birds follow the snow line, many stay down year around. Haven't run into ticks yet myself, but with the last few warm days I'm sure they're out. Lot of deer still down so keep an eye open if you drive Hwy 25. Been dodging them every morning. Good luck with the kids and don't forget to dress against the rain

Ive spent the last several days hiking and ive picked up a handful of ticks.  Good time to get your hair cut short if its not already.  Im seeing turkeys everywhere from the valley bottoms up to 4500ft.
