Both are just passing fads, stick with the 30-06.   :chuckle:

.308 is hardly a fad.  Military sniper old school.  :chuckle:

I've killed deer with both. I would shoot an elk or bear with either. Factory creed ammo is a little more expensive, but reloading costs aren't going to be any different. Pick your poison.

.308 was my all time favorite. Then I started reloading now I have 3 6.5 creed's and 2 6.5x284s I do have a .308 lever and and 7mm mag and .06 but they never get shot. Lower recoil is my friend . The deer have been just as dead and I feel more comfortable going out to 500 yds. My vote is 6.5 creed.

I'm a real fan of bullet weight (308 in 165gr.) when the hit is a little off and you end up busting your way through a leg bone, or an injured bear that needs another round when all you have is his south end when he's heading north.  It changes the game a bit for me when you're shooting something that can eat you.  Having said that, just about any round from .25 on up kills under ideal conditions; but hunting is seldom ideal.
You'll never get a Big'un if you keep shooting Little'un's.

Either will kill anything in North America.   I own both and like both.  My 6.5 was less finicy to load for.   My .308 is a light weight mountain rifle though so that may be why it was more finicy.
