Trapping on State Land
« on: April 17, 2019, 09:48:43 AM »
Hello,

Curious if land owned by "State of Washington" is assumed to be open to trapping. The regulations say "most public lands are open to trapping" so I assume they're fair game as long as they are accessible via public roads. I'm mostly talking about the random smaller blocks of state land that are not connected to state forests. They're not game reserves as described in the Migratory Waterfowl and Upland Game Pamphlet.

http://publiclandsinventory.wa.gov/#Map --> land listed as DNR Uplands

Thanks!

I believe its worded that way as some areas are specifically designated as no trapping allowed.  Its just a matter of figuring out which areas.

If the land in question is not a park, preserve or is closed to the public it should be open to trapping. Of course good judgment should be used around any area with a lot of public use such as trails.
