Want to buy glock i1639
« on: June 14, 2019, 08:26:28 PM »
So I finally have enough money to buy a glock and I’m worried they will be sold out everywhere before July 1st which is when the new laws come into effect. Does hunter safety count as a firearm safety course? I cannot find anything about this. I’m so excited to get my concealed carry and a glock but I’m worried it won’t  be possible if the glock I want is out of stock in all my local stores next week.

Did you call around to see if they're out of stock? You still got some time. Even if they're out of stock in the physical location, there are like WAY more than enough sitting around in distributor warehouses right now. Trump hasn't been a boon for gun sales. Anything your dealer ordered would likely come in in just a few days, but call and check. This is just a Washington law, so all of these warehouses would be more than happy to flood some of their excess inventory into the state right now and get it off their hands. Just give your local dealer a call, I don't think you'll have any problems.

Am I missing something? I639 involves semi auto rifles not handguns.

I1639 didn't change anything as far as handgun purchases go. However there will be a waiting period on all handgun purchases effective July 1 even for those who have a CPL. This is not from I163. It's just now a Wa State thing. You dont have to take 1639 training class for a handgun. Glocks are in stock pretty anywhere. I was in Lynnwood Gun yesterday and they had a bunch of them.

No there is a major change which is that you sign over your medical privacy rights and are put on a gun registry that is monitored annually.

You already do that. It was on the form I filled out yesterday!

It's my understanding that right now the health check for pistols is a one time deal , after July 1st it will give them permenant access to your records if you buy a pistol .

This is correct. Right now they just want to see if you have been discharged from a mental hospital recently.

With 1639 they will check at least annually to see if you are qualified to own a gun and they don't specify what they will check. So you are being put on a gun registry and giving the government full access to your medical records.
