West Coast Hog Hunt Recommendations??
« on: July 31, 2019, 04:38:58 PM »
I’m interested in doing a hog hunt, as it’s something I’ve never done before and on my hunting bucket list. Looking for a public land, do it yourself, hunt. Any recommendations or info that you could share would be much appreciated.

" In today's instant gratification society, more and more pressure revolves around success and the measurement of one's prowess as a hunter by inches on a score chart or field photos produced on social media. Don't fall into the trap. Hunting is-and always will be- about the hunt, the adventure, the views, and time spent with close friends and family. " Ryan Hatfield

I know there is a place in eastern Oregon that has hunts. I have only heard they do them know idea how much or if it’s a cool hunt.

If you decide to go the outfitter route. I can hook you up with a friend of mine. All his stuff is private land stuff.

Fouraces is the old clover creek. It's hunting in high fence preserve just FYI, more of a harvest then anything on that place. Just with auction bought pigs.

This map may help you find feral hogs on public land in the West. But if it's public, they're not likely to be out and about during daylight hours.

Several years ago I hunted Ft Hunter Liggett in California.  There were lots of hogs there and at the time had tagged the record Russian bore.  Although I'm military it's open to the public.  It's a big place so some advance research would be needed.  Here is a link to the regs if interested...

Thank you all for the info. I’m definitely interested in the California hunts, but wanting to do it without a guide.
