Now that painting is done it’s time to get the action bedded in the stock. I have done about five bedding jobs over the years so this was pretty easy.

I wasn't to sure how it was going to look because there is very few pictures of it on any rifles. Turned out as I hoped it would.

Machine work is a talent I always admired and loved to watch or see the results, just never got around to learning myself.
I regret that and not learning how to weld, correctly, LOL.

I took machining in high school. Luckily I have two friends that are machinists, we all took the same classes in high school. One of them owns his own company after working in Nike’s machine shop in Portland for 20yrs, he likes to tell me he’ll get my parts done, but in reality he will have them finished in 10yrs. The other friend use to be a machinist and still dabbles in his garage. I can use his equipment whenever I need to.

Next is to prep and then paint the stock. I used the sponge camo method. My daughter was kinda directing this phase. We used 5 or 6 different colors and flat clear coat.

But that bolt sticks out like a sore thumb. I can’t run it with that ugly thing.
So I sent the bolt body to Dan at Darkeagle Custom in NY. Dan was great to work with and had my bolt back to me in less than two weeks.

With the bolt installed next was to bed the scope rail and mount the scope.

I'm still waiting for my bipod rail, bipod and scope level to show up.

That turned out great! That's way better than my usual Savage build which involves spinning a barrel on while I'm out in the woods, pulling a stock off a different gun I haven't shot for a while, looking at the bedding and deciding that it's close enough, then shooting it 3 times and getting bored.
