Late season archery
« on: September 29, 2019, 06:10:33 PM »
Works got me looking like I’ll only have late season to hunt, spot I got is full is of deer white tail and muley. My question is should I look into rattling, calling? Will the rut be on? And what do I do if it is with my bow, do I try and bed them and stalk? Or will they come into calling? Never hunted late season and don’t know really
How to go about it

I like rattling during the whitetail rut.

I have always had success with using doe estres to lure in the bucks.  I also hunting an agricultural field with corn and beans from a tree stand.

BTW I live in the Midwest.

Was thinking of getting a decoy to? Would it help from bucks getting hung up outside range?

How do you hunt the early season in this spot? If you can scout it out prior to your hunt maybe try stand hunting on the travel routes or bottlenecks to bed sites. Otherwise rattle for the whities and spot/stalk the mulies. There could very well be rut activity in both species going on. Good luck!
Fish hard, hunt harder!

Normally hunt with a rifle catching em coming out of the wheat, it’s not hard getting within 100 but closing a gap for archery hunting in the open is only thing that’s got me stressing
