Idaho wolf hunt - alpha howler?
« on: December 17, 2019, 12:24:35 PM »
Picked up an alpha howler and a couple other calls I've been wanting, including a Phelps open reed cow call.  (which I LOVE btw)

Any feedback on the alpha howler?

I'll be hitting it come 2020

Sounds like a bike horn lol. I am far from a expert on wolf hunting. However I have used my voice several times and had wolves answer. Seems like a lot of the videos I have watched over the years they guys killing the most of them use there own voice to howl for them and lots of time finish them with a distress call after they answer or know they are close.

I'm going to have it in the truck while I try to fill my lion tag and might mess with it some when I come across fresh wolf sign,

I've got other plans for Idaho though and some ideas I want to try out besides howling at them like everyone else  :chuckle:

How about "Deer scent cologne?" Wishing you much success in your future wolf harvesting.

Ya it'll be a learning curve, hope to get some knowledge just in case I can ever get a WA tag.

Yes the alpha howler is hard to master. I hate it.

The one that is awesome is the Elk Inc Howler.

It's easy to use and sounds way way better.
