On a serious note though, that's sad to see them get wasted.  Especially when so many people purchase a tag and go hunting lawfully during the season and come up empty handed.

That is terrible, is that area open right now to late archery? If not what the hell is wrong with people to shoot three Elk for no reason?

It would be sweet if they could lift a print from that arrow. Someone who does this might be in the system already. Dang shame!

Not quite sure why they think they were poached.  They were probably shot and never found.  There is a antlerless season for archery that went to the 15th.  Could of been poached I suppose but I find animals after archery all the time out in the woods never really felt they were poached.  If hunting season wasn't open when they found them then that would be one thing but it was open till the 15th and they found them the 14th.

Not knowing for sure if it was in a closed area I was thinking maybe sloppy hunting as well.
I beg to dream and differ from the hollow lies

That area is classified as 4601 inside of gmu 460.  It was open during late archery and it is 3 pt or better.  Hope they catch them.

I don’t have the regs in front of me but 4601 for late season was 3pt min/antlerless so could have been shot during season but 3 cows is probably what is bringing up the red flag as poaching.  I believe master hunters can hunt up there July-March.

My mistake.  Hard to read on my phone at 3 am when putting the dogs out.  It is antlerless or 3 pt or better in the regs.  Still morons if you ask me.

I read about this on Facebook. Three elk in the same general area (easily within walking distance if not sight distance) I doubt is lost animals. One being partially butchered hind quarters and backstrap missing leads more thoughts to poaching or "joy shooting" if they killed 3 how many more were hit and ran off injured? Just awful.
