00aught, did you mean to only have one choice on the poll.  We struck out too, but I wouldn't call it a "bad" weekend.  Saw plenty of birds, just couldn't connect.  My 10 year old missed one too.  Don't think the toms were too hot yet.  General season should be pretty good.

My boy and I were hunting in the SE Corner of the state.  We did see a few gobblers get harvested, just none for us.

We were lucky to be hunting some private ground down low.  My regular spots are still snowed in and hard to get to.

I only saw a few other hunters actually outside of their trucks and twice saw kids trying shoot the birds out of the air! The birds seemed to go through a major change in activity this weekend.  Friday we found all of the birds huddled together and only a few toms strutting or displaying.  Saturday they all started the day together but soon split up and the boys started doing their thing and seemed to be establishing a pecking order.  By Sunday morning the birds were not roosting together and the morning opened with a chorus of gobbles from all directions.  I really wish we could be out there chasing them today! It would be prime with this weather!

The youth season is such a cool thing, I can guarantee that when my son is too old and if his sister still does not want to shoot stuff(she loves to go hunting, but she doesn't want to be the shooter), I will find a kid who wants to go and mentor them.
hey, where's Professor Chaos? Anyone seen him?
