Ford 6.2 motor from Canada. Any issues?

So I am in the market for a new to me used truck.  I have been looking at several F350’s and they all seem to be from Canada.  The one that I am very interested in is a 2018 F350 6.2 crew cab.  The car fax says it originated in Kamloops BC.  There is only 28000 miles on the truck.  Is there anything I should look for other then rust/corrosion on the undercarriage?  Anyone have any experience with the 6.2?

When I was buying a 6.7 I ran into a ton of canadian trucks. Defenitly check for corrosion, they are getting good with hiding it using undercoating  and such.
Idle hours was a concern of mine as well, some of the 50k mile trucks I looked at had 5-6k idle hours. Not sure if they run the gas trucks hard like that, but good to check.
Try to get the vin and take it to a ford dealer for an oasis report. I was able to see service history on my truck from new, made me alot kore comfortable buying it knowing it never missed a service.

Dont let people scare you out of canadian trucks, there is a TON of garbage coming in, but theres alot of real gems too. I noticed the higher trim levels all seemed to be taken care of better, and not idled as much. The lower trims were obvious oil feild fleet trucks that I would be scared of owning.

The warranties are different up there, and ford wont cover the trucks for the same mileage as the ones sold here, something to keep in mind.

It’s not “idle hours” you’re looking at. It’s total engine hours. Average 30mph times your engine hours and that’ll get you close. Some companies I deal with service their trucks based on hours, not miles.

An oasis report can show you only service history that Ford has paid for. Can’t see any maintenance or repairs that are not paid for by Ford, so in other words if you’re paying for your oil changes, you can’t see that on oasis. If you have a Ford maintenance plan, you can see history.

Canadian trucks are covered by the same warranty terms as American trucks are. 3/36 basic. 5/60 powertrain. 8/80 emissions. 5/100 Diesel engine.

As far as Canadian trucks go, I have seen a crap ton of them and haven’t seen any issues relative to corrosion. I keep hearing about corrosion concerns, but it’s never been a big deal where I’m at.  People seem to notice things like rust on drivelines,  but they’re bare metal and they will have some surface rust on them.

I think if you do your homework, buy from a reputable source and have the vehicle inspected by someone other than the seller, you’ve covered your bases the best you can.

My local ford dealer was pretty adamant about the warranty not transferring over.

I guess I was specific on idle hours due to the egr and exhaust filter. Some of those trucks must not have ever shut off. Total engine hours around d 7k, idle hours at 5k+, weird ratios for sure. 

Super annoying that the local ford dealer told.me the warranty didnt transfer over.... I'm gonna go talk to em again. I've got emissions stuff I'd like to get warranties if its covered lol

I have had a different experience than Jackelope, every Canadian truck I looked at had tons of rust on the entire undercarriage.  I looked at 10-15 before I gave up.  Low mile trucks (<50k) with so much rust you wouldn't believe it.  Many literally have flaking rust on the springs, shock bolts, calipers, everywhere.  I saw a truck with 20k that there would be zero chance of getting the spare out without breaking the bolt.

About half had a spray coating to cover it up, but it's pretty easy to tell when it isn't a factory coating as they don't do a great job.

Kamloops is way up there, the truck has driven over salted roads in a place where winter lasts a long, long time.  It was also run in very cold temps, maybe plugged in, maybe not. You can also run into trucks that were used to tow boats and the back end goes into the salt, but probably not from Kamloops - it's easy to tell as the back will be all rusty and the front looks great. 

Other than rust, there isn't much difference.  Some Canadian trucks have slight differences, just pay attention when you are doing any maintenance to check to see if there are different parts like oxygen sensors, etc.

In my opinion, the Canadian trucks aren't any cheaper than local trade-ins and if you are patient you can find a good local truck and not have to worry about it.  Dealers buy them at auction and offer them for full retail and find people that don't look underneath.

I would be very careful, but it's your call.  Definitely look before you leap.

Thanks for all of the input.  I think I will just wait, save up a little more and get a new one from a dealer.  That way I don’t have to worry about the warranty and Canada thing.  I do appreciate the help
