Let's talk South Sound Halibut fishing....... I know area 11 & 13 are closed to halibut fishing, but who has caught them in the south sound?
I have never brought a hali to the boat in the south sound, but have caught fish off Point Defiance that i will sware has to be a Halibut. Each instince it has happened (3 times over many years) the line broke, but i was salmin fishing with lighter gear.
Had a neighbor who was a long time fisherman from back in the 40s, & 50s recalls catching halibut around Tacoma, south to Nisqually, and north to Seattle (area 10). Told me areas he caught them, Clay Banks, the table off PD, Vashon Island, BLAKE Island to name a few......
Any one else have any experiance catching them?
Always wondered if it was viable or worth while trying off BLAKE Is. it's only a shore ride from PD, Seattle, or Port Orchard to fish it for hali, after all, it's in area 10........
