That Is my plan... I had assumed the better Rams May be back in the unit that time of year. Though I will look over the river as well...

Exactly!  Helped on this hunt a few years back. Get a really light boat or raft to cross the river.

Not sure why anyone would say its not a great spot for ram 

If you have drawn that area,There is no better place,In the whole unit.

If you watch the big flat the tracks are on the other side of it,The sheep graze in that flat often.I see them almost every day there every season.

When my dad had the tag and we hunted it the rams were all hanging up on umptanum ridge at the opener. My dad killed a 173” ram on the opener and we were probably 10+ miles from the river. Unless they’ve completely switched patterns in the last 10 yrs or so, most guys who were hunting the canyon shot rams but they were dinks compared to my dads ram and about 8 others out of the band my dad took his ram from.

That's a heck of a ram for your dad or anybody for that matter👍Things have definitely changed over the years. I'd recommend covering all of the unit scouting, because that's the funnest part of all these sheep hunts. Definitely want to focus on all nooks and crannies in the canyon come season though.

I drew the Umtanum Big Horn Sheep tag for this hunting season 2022. Im 17 years old and yet somehow managed to draw this tag. I dont know much about the animals over there so Im looking for advice from people who have hunted it in the past or who know a bit about the area, any info will help tremendously. Thanks
