« on: April 11, 2009, 08:05:15 PM »
I just traded my Beretta .40 cal for a .44 Super Blackhawk.
I picked up some Hornady 300gr HP today and loking for a good load. Thought I would ask those that have already experimented and can share some info.

Any one have a good load they use for a 300gr bullet?

Thanks for you Info.

Check out www.reloadersnest.com they have a wealth of loading data on there.  Remember, you can seat your 300 gr. bullets out where they belong, since you have a Ruger, it has a longer cylinder than a S&W.

Be ready for some wallop though from those 300 grainers.  You might also look at Sierra's 300 gr. jacketed soft points.  Great on elk and bear, not so good on deer(they make the same size hole going out as in, with no expansion on deer)
By my honorable conduct as a hunter let me give a good example and teach new hunters principles of honor, so that each new generation can show respect for their god, other hunters and the animals, and enjoy the dignity of the hunt.

Calling an illegal alien an 'undocumented immigrant' is like calling a drug dealer an 'unlicensed pharmacist'.

I shoot 300 gr. Hornady XTP's with 19gr. of H110 and WLP primers.  This load shoots well out of both my 4" Super Blackhawk and my 71/2" Super Blackhawk Hunter.  I plan on shooting a deer with this load one of these days.
