Hey just wondering if anyone can help me with a little input, im getting ready to go do a job out in LA Push for a couple months and was wondering if anyone knew anywhere I can hunt out there after work in the evenings, i have multi season deer. Was wondering about public land or if its all reservation there. Thanks

Looks pretty good - I think I got it right on the map.  There's no labeling, so double check yourself.  There's some pretty big blocks of DNR land out there.  Green is USFS, pink is DNR, gray is private.

If nothing else, there's some great fishing out there...

You could get the general timber company permit.  It gives you some good access even without the specific permits (Goodman or Dickey).  Only about 10 minutes from La Push before you're good.

Are you building the garage?

Be sure to note that the green is "federal" which means a mix of some NF and a lot of ONP.

Thank you everyone for your help! Its a whole new area for me, just hoping I get some time to hunt! Building a school there. Hopefully with any luck I can stumble across a deer or bear while I'm out there and will definitely look into the permit! Good luck to everyone!

I have a kapowsin Hancock permit, any idea on the cost of the ones near LA Push? I will look online, just wondering if you knew off hand.

I think it is $65 for the general hunting permit.  The limited ones are something like $300, if they're even available.  They're on the rayonier site.

I am in forks and would be more than willing to look at some maps with you when you get here. I could at least get you started in the right direction.

The new school is on the edge of reservation ground but just outside the gate keeping people out for covid. All that green land along the coast is national park so no hunting obviously.. The private timberland in grey is mostly Rayonier and from august thru the fall you have to have the special access permits for goodman and dickey which are sold out every year by now. THe cheaper general permit is invalid once bear season starts. You will have to get east of hwy 101 mostly to get on some state and forest service ground with everyone else.. Bring your fishing rod as fall has some great fishing not far from your jobsite for salmon on the rivers.. I won't mention how I feel about the spending of 30 plus million for a school for less than a hundred kids when the public schools in Forks for K-8 are a hundred years old and falling down.... Have good rain gear it will be a long wet winter..

Truth, probably at least 10 elk hit every year between LaPush and Clallam Bay. Personally I slid right through the middle of a herd on black ice one year.

I bumped a cow going to the bogachiel hatchery. She turned to run away as I was braked. Her butt was going up on the hood and she was running on her front legs. When it finally stopped, she took off and started acting crazy in the ditch. Seems they cause lots of issues there.
