GMU 501 Doe Tag

My fiance drew a doe tag this year for GMU 501, so we are down here west of Chehalis this weekend scouting around. Almost every access point to state land that i have found with my OnX hunt maps is gated and locked. I have found one access point to state land that the gate was open, but the cuts are pretty old and the growth is tall. Talked to a few locals and they said to expect pretty much all of them to be locked. Curious to know if anyone here has any info they might be able to lend as to where i should check out, i really don't want her doe tag to become soup  Thanks in advance, and happy hunting to all!

Look for green diamond or port Blakely ground that is open access you’ll find plenty of does

The gates open for modern.
Also, if you go out Lincoln Creek to Lepisto, you can pretty much drive around the WH block and come out by Doty..
But that crosses into 672, so know the boundary.

If you don't get one located, I got a "secret" spot that isn't very secret, but almost always see does...
But you gotta get out and walk..

Thanks for the replies! We checked out some of the Port Blakely land, and it looks promising! I had never heard of them, but their website explains that they welcome hunters on their land. That was a great tip  We actually checked out Lepisto yesterday and liked the area out there, which we had to hike out past the gate. Some of the private farm land out there would be really nice to hunt if I could track down the owner as there were “hunt with written permission” signs but no info written on the signs. All in all, I appreciate the tips from you both, they were really helpful! Hoping she can drop a delicious doe out here!

onX should help in locating property owners. If you have your Washington layers active the "Washington private land hunting opportunities" layer outlines written permission land pretty well. Good luck with the hunt.

Been around the unit early for bear. Tons of deer roaming around. I’m sure you won’t have any problem filling a doe tag. There’s disabled only gates that you can walk and hunt, and lots of port blakely. You’ll get it done
