Bass fishing Cle Elum?
« on: August 24, 2020, 10:40:55 AM »
I'm looking to be bird hunting next week in the Teanaway, but thought I might bring rod and reel as well. Any recommendations to throw for bass from the bank if I get a coupla hours? Thanks in advance!  :)

Head east to at least Ellensburg or over the pass.

I've been looking at the Yak, so it could turn into some scouting with a rig. :D
As I haven't fished over there before, I've been digging into the WDFW places to go stuff. But it's always helpful when actual people who have experience can suggest things. Thank you.

Any concentration of bass will be way down river. Below Zillah. There may be a few here and there upriver of Roza, but certainly not enough to target. Lakes like Fio Rito and Matoon in Eburg would be your best bet.

I don't think I'll have the time, but I'd really like to scout down as far a maybe Prosser. I mean if I don't get into birds and am too tired to walk more and not see any, I might could spend my time better in my truck. We'll see...

Seen some giant bass in i82 pond 4. Caught some decent ones but have always seen giants. Not super close to you but depending on how much you care about catching some nice bass could be worth it

Not that I want to sign up for as much work as possible  :chuckle: but I wonder if my little sneak boat would be okay there, or just walk the shore?

I think a boat would kill it. I’ve always walked the shore. But I’ve seen guys smacking fish out of a kayak. Not sure how bad the weeds would be this time of year. But still some great fishing to be had

I went and looked and couldn't figure out how to access pond 4. The ponds on the other side of the hwy all had no trespassing and no parking signs around them. Where do you park for pond 4? And where do you walk in?

Turn on Flint  Ln. off Yakima Valley Highway. Road takes you  under I-82 and right to pond 4! Good luck!

You can drive straight to it. What he said! Drive under a tunnel under i82

There is a ton of milfoil around the lake right now.
