Trap Tags
« on: October 01, 2020, 04:06:01 PM »
I am wanting to buy some trap tags and it looks like I can get them through Murray's Lures fairly cheap. I was just curios if there is a standard on what your supposed to put on your tags. I am aware Name, address, wild ID, trappers ID ect... I’m just not sure if there is a specific order to put them or if it even matters. I’m hoping to get some examples from you guys to help me out so I put the proper information before purchase.

Thanks in advance Nic.

PS please excuse my ignorance.

From my reading of the regs it appears that your WILD ID is all that is required. At the trapping education class they recommended against using your name to avoid harassment depending on where you trap.
There is not enough wilderness left in the world, or in the hearts of men.

Name and address or wild ID. You do not need both. I would suggest just the wild ID. There is no need for people to know who you are or where you live. The tag is for Department use. Everybody else can stay clueless.
Even when we used to use name nobody ever put anything more then name and city. You don't need an anti-trapper showing up on your doorstep.
The trapper ID# they talk about is something the Department used to issue. They no longer issue them but for those that have them still OK to use them.

Put good tags on ur traps, those cheap ones are ok to keep in ur trapping basket for emergencies but they don’t last long on a trap that’s being used. You don’t want to deal with a warden about an un-tagged trap because one of those cheap suckers fell off :twocents:  I run my wild id# only

I'm still running my trappers ID, and I'm cheap I cut pop cans into strips and number stamp my ID into them and hog ring it onto the trap 😂 they hold for about 2-3 years of thrashing beaver and otter. Iv also started adding a second one to a tie off cable if I have one attached to the trap
