Feather size
« on: April 17, 2009, 11:23:17 PM »
I was looking at arrows online and for feather fletched ones it asked what size feather you wanted and and the options were 3,4,and 5.  Are they refering to length in inches or what?  What size do you think is best?  Thanks.

That is correct they are referring to the length of the feather.  As far as what is best depends on your setup.  Out of my recurve I prefer a 5" feather but a lot of guys shoot 4".  It really is up to you.  What is your setup?

If your arrows are tuned good to your bow..you can get away with the 2 1/2 inch little feathers... they are a lot like the size of blazers... thats mostly what I shoot out of my longbows...

I shoot 5" right helical out of my recurve and my longbow.  With my Bowtech Captain and COmmander I shoot 2" blazers.  I think it all depends on what shoots best for that particular bow, I have 2 friends who shoot 70# Ally's and both shoot 2" blazers.
