Missed op
« on: April 11, 2021, 07:55:09 AM »
I was looking for pheasant pics for that thread and I stumbled onto this guy.  I was just thinking about him.  It felt like it was yesterday.  I still look for him.  :chuckle:   That was like 10 years ago.   I was half assed looking for deer.  Didn’t have gear on. Wasn’t expecting to see him.....I see a deer, only put a quarter effort into seeing if it was a buck or not.   And holy moly. There he was.   Not expecting a buck of this caliber.     A missed opportunity of a buck of a lifetime.   Seems like there was a set of sheds found two years later from this guy that were insane.   Anyhow, nothing else better to do from work on this cold day in April.

Great pics. Do you know what it means when the tail is pointing straight back like that? Or was the pic taken mid tale flick?

Stud Bone!   I’ve seen one other buck like that where it almost looks like flames.

Most likely just a flick.

Thats a great buck and picture bone, is it a Washington buck? I killed one 7 or so years ago that could very easily be carrying those genetics. It had 7 on one side and 6 on the other, bladed, heavy and "curled", unique for sure, could be genetically related or just a coincidence. PM me if you like, you know a few of the areas I prowl from time to time

I am just truly amazed at how many 5+ point bucks you film. I spend more than the average amount of time looking at deer, and rarely see them.....
