Brian started this big boar shortly after daylight, the bear bayed up numerous times and then would walk or run a ways, dogs finally pushed him up a small tree, Brian got there the bear was hanging onto the tree by his teeth. Heath broke his back when he shot but the bear was plenty alive, Brian let the little terrier Chewy loose who grabbed the bear, Chewy kept the bear busy until Heath caught up to put in another finishing shot. Heath said he has been on four guided hunts trying to get a bear over six feet, mission accomplished!

Heath doubled today, after getting the big blackie this morning with the hounds he dropped this chocolate beauty tonight while bait hunting! This boar measured 6 feet even, well done Heath, congratulations!

Andrew age 16 from South Dakota stalked this nice boar this morning with guide Branden, they got within range and Andrew made a perfect shot, dropped him like a rock. I love it when a plan comes together!

Thanks for the kind comments everyone, it’s very much appreciate, I’m fortunate to have some very good guides working for us and it’s really my son who manages that part of our hunting operation and those guides who are getting the job done. I just visited camp this morning and the guides were fueling up and I visited with the new group of hunters this week, they were excited to get going, the guides have been having a fantastic time in spite of the hard work and long hours, and the hounds are rested and ready for this week’s hunts. I’m on a run to replenish camp supplies to keep things going smoothly!

Rich from California with a nice blackie that he wounded at a baits, they got “Chewy” the Jack Russell Terrier and he tracked down and bayed up the bear until Rich could get there and finish off the bear.

Some of you guys probably remember Ruby, she was eaten by a cougar two winters ago, Chewy is her replacement, he doesn’t have the same unique personality, but he is turning out to be just as effective at tracking and finding wounded game. In Idaho we are allowed to recover wounded game with blood dogs, during her life Ruby was responsible for finding many wounded game animals including a 6x6 bull elk, a trophy nontypical mule deer, whitetail deer and many wounded bear and cougar.
