Man, the turkeys are going crazy on the east side.

Normally I hunt with a bow which makes it tough.  This year I traded an old bow for a shotgun.

It has paid off.  I'm out of tags.

I got one with a 10 1/4 inch beard and went 21 lbs with 1 inch spurs.

It went awesome.

I went to locate some birds one morning.

It was crazy.  They were gobbling every time I did a few yelps.  I snuck in on one that seemed like he sounded nice.  I set up B-mobile and started calling.

That sucker came in to 55 yards and struted up and down a small ridge for 45 minutes.  I hadn't patterned that gun as much as I would have like, so I thought it was too far.  He was really nice!!!

I stopped calling and let him go back to where the hens where.  Once out of sight, I moved in to where he had been struting and setup B-mobile again.  He got quite for a while, and I thought I may have spooked him while moving.  Next thing I know, I see a big red head sneaking just over the ridge at about 55 or 60 yards.  It looked easy but I wasn't confident inthe pattern.  I again watched him for about 15 minutes while he struted for the ladies at about 75 yards or so.  I am on my feet with a bunch of brush between us so I start sneaking in.  I got to about 50 yards of him and sat down.  I can still see him, but just too mcuh brush.  I start calling and I got the hens down over the ridge really excite.  Next thing I know the hens come up and start feeding with 5 to 7 yards of me.  Right behind them, here he comes.  I didn't take any chances.  As soon as his head went up the first time, I let him have it.

It was awesome.  Except for about 15 minutes, the answer every call I made!

very nice. How did the hunt go.

Lets see some PICS man!  (of the turkey, not your Montana Tags...)
Before you criticize someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes.  That way, when you criticize them, you're a mile away and you have their shoes.
