Im looking for a commuter/hunting rig truck. Does anyone have a recommendation for a newer outdoor 4x4 model in a manual?

I've had my 97' 3.4 manual since 2000 and couldn't be anymore happier with it, only thing that's needed replaced in the 21 years I've had it is the starter and the ac, other than that just normal maintenance.

There's a reason they hold their value so well.

Like most Toyota 4WD it is a gutless turd with mediocre gas mileage and a very dependable drivetrain. I have liked all my Toyotas but I'm realistic about the cons they have. For one thing I would pull the back seats on that new Taco because the idea of putting a human over 100# back there is a joke.

All the "bullet-proof!" comments from city dwellers with <100k miles do make me laugh though. F-150 gets my vote.
Kindly do not attempt to cloud the issue with too many facts.

I've been driving a 2015 F150.

112k miles, zero complaints.
Springs spring
Frame holds stuff on where it's supposed to and doesn't quiver like a noodle.

Interior materials and components are much better quality than Toy.

Smooth, quiet and powerful at 80mph getting 17mpg, which is the same mileage as the Tacoma I had which hated cruising over 70mph.

The only thing the Toyota did better than the F150 is park...The 154" wheelbase F150 has to be backed into parking spaces the Toy would fit in easily.

The F150 is 10 times the truck and has needed next to nothing in repairs, whereas the Toy needed upgrades out of pocket just to be mediocre.

No regrets.

I've had three different toyotas, a 1985, a1990, and the 1997 that I still have.i had almost no issues with any and sold two for more than i bought them for.ive seen all the toyota bashing that you post and could care less about your opinion on them. Overall Toyota makes a damn good truck.

The 2015 TRD will take 31.6s stock without any rub even on rough trails (from my experience so far). I think its a great truck. For mid-size its hard to beat   :twocents:

Just curious why one would run totes this big on a small truck?🤔

112,000 miles isn’t much especially on pavement for a aluminum body , wait till it hits 250,000 miles and see if it’s still together. It’s some poising match going on but I just know that I’ll keep driving my Tacoma everywhere I need to go

Ya know they really don't look that big. It came with 30 by 9.5s on it and so I upped to the BFG KO2 all terrains in 31.6 by 9.5. Next step will be to put the 3 inch leveling kit/lift and put 33s on it when these wear out.
