Drew watershed with 17 points.  I have an eastern WA muzzle loader tag.  Sounds like this one may hurt an old guy.  Any advice?

Well, if you can get a hold of horses you will be much better off.  It is steep and deep, without stock, you will be doing a lot of walking.  If you come up from the bottom you'll be crossing a creek several times before it opens up a bit.  If you come in from the top you'll be hunting down, and I think there is a place to camp towards the middle?  I'd come in from the bottom if I had horses, top if not.  But it will prob be the steepest country you've ever seen, some potential for a great bull, it's just a tough azz hunt.

Is there a way to see what number you were in the drawing? Never heard of it before but since you can return tags now that would be kind of cool to know.

I drew Archery Quality Colockum. Looks like I need to start scouting. I wasn't expecting to draw.

Nice tag!  I drew the Colockum Quality Rifle (late).  So I will be about 6 weeks behind you!  Tie one up to a tree for me...

So how does turning your tag in work?  Do you keep your points or are they gone?  All I hear about this hunt is how tough it is, and being further handicapped by a muzzleloader?  This might be the right option for me.

Just got back from looking watershed over.  Hate to do it, but the tag is going back to WDFW.  Tough country and being further handicapped by the smokepole, don't feel like I'd have much of a chance.  Thanks for the heads up to all who responded.

You will get your points back if you decide to mail back in your permit.  But it’s worth a look at, you may try it from the top? But yeah, even tougher w a Muzzy.

I'm headed back to Tucannon for another round of archery elk.  :IBCOOL: :IBCOOL:

My brother and I both killed really nice bulls in there in 2015. I can't wait to be back in there chasing bulls!!!

I will try to tie one to a tree for you but six weeks is a long time and a muzzy hunter might find him. You might hav to drop some feed every once in a while too.  :chuckle:

Pretty sure you can't camp in the watershed.  In and out each day.
