Remote Lake Camping

Hi All,

My son and his wife are coming to visit for remote camping,fishing,hiking in a few weeks. We are experienced remote campers...tent only. I was thinking Baker Lake but never been. How is the access to the lake for dispersed camping...lots? Other ideas? Thanks

Been about 20 years since I have camped up there...it was more party camping. It did have spots to pull off and those had access to the lake. Like most things, I assume it has gotten busier over time. My father in law still goes with a few buddies they jump in canoes and head to more remote spots. I/m sure more people will chime in with more recent info.

There’s nothing remote about camping on baker lake. There are two campsites on the east side of the lake you can hike to, one from the south end, and one from the north end. Boaters camp in these areas too, so don’t be surprised if there’s a big party next to you. The view though……. Might be worth any inconvenience.

There is a trail up the river to a campsite, sulphide creek. Depending on your definition of remote, you might try Shuksan Lake, or Marten Lake on Lava Divide. There’s going to be a ton of snow in those areas that will stick around into August.

I agree, nothing remote about that lake, but if you are looking for a view it's really hard to beat.

We use to hike into the high lakes to go fishing on Mt Si in North bend about 30 years ago. Not sure how remote they are now, Might be worth looking into.
