Point n Shoot
« on: July 10, 2021, 08:51:27 PM »
Have a once in a lifetime elk hunt this fall in Wyoming. I was wondering if anyone has any feedback for a small pocket type camera that takes clear pictures with good color rendition. Looking to spend under $300. Yes, I have my iPhone which is always on my chest and is very convenient and takes nice pictures but I'd like to get some special pictures that could be printed up and displayed. My experience is that the cell phones are lacking in that regard.

I've read decent reviews for the Canon elph 300hs which I see online for around $225.

Thanks

I run a Fujifilm 5X zoom, only 16MP's but it takes great photo's. The plus it weighs next to nothing, it's in my pack in a padded old GPS pouch and two extra batteries. :twocents:

Elksnout, congrats on your killer WY tag!!  I have a canon elph and it works fine. If you don’t have one, get a Clip Shot (made by a friend in Noxon, MT). Great little camera holder for the hero shot.

Perfect!!  Nice bull and great hero shot. I'm hoping for the same. Think I'll move on the elph and I do have a holder for self timer mode.

Thanks

I started with the LUMIX series, it had Leica glass and took great pics for a point and shoot.  I hear good things about the little canon elph  as mentioned.   The advice with the cell phone seems pretty good.  I kinda thought point and shoots were gone with the dinosaurs because of them.
