Anyone else noticeing
« on: September 16, 2021, 01:25:26 PM »
After 15 1/2 days of sitting in tree stand in 2 different locations wondering if it is just here or if anyone else is noticing this last crop of Mule deer fawns seems to be a bumper crop? Most notable to me is of the 4 does that appeared this morning they each had a set of twins, yes it was 4 separate does as they were all visible at the same time.

Our property in 133 has had quite an uptick in Muley fawns this year too.  Now if we can just keep the damn cats off of them.

Gary
One does not hunt in order to kill; on the contrary, one kills in order to have hunted. If one were to present the sportsman with the death of the animal as a gift he would refuse it. What he is after is having to win it, to conquer the surly brute through his own effort and skill with all the extras that this carries with it: the immersion in the countryside, the healthfulness of the exercise, the distraction from his job. ~ Jose Ortega y Gasset

I'm wondering if the cats didn't collapse in some areas, I'm having to drive *a lot* to cut a cat track in fresh snow now.

Unless I get closer to people and deer feeders, then cat tracks all over

I am noticing more mule deer does and fawns than I've seen in years out west from you near top of the valley.

I've had up to 20 fawns a few years ago....This year 4. The whole mule deer herd is hurting pretty bad..at least in my neighborhood

I used to love running out Miles road a few times each winter to look at the wintering mules, hasnt been worth the effort for a few years now.

The blacktail population is really low also. Normally I have 5-10 big bucks on camera and lots of 2 points and spikes. This year so far the biggest buck I’ve seen all year is a forkie. Only 3 does and 2 fawns all year on 4 cameras
