Happiness in Wa
« on: October 13, 2021, 06:31:26 AM »
More along the lines of what might typically be harvested this weekend.    I'm taking a young man out on his first big game hunt.  I'm sure we'd be happy to pack this one home.

The older I get the more it's about the first timers, still have to get my son in law his first deer, that one would be good.

That's awesome, Bone!  Good for you for mentoring the next generation.  Lucky new hunter to be in the field with you.

Great pic bone!  Heck, I don't even get to hunt much anymore, I am mainly a guide for the wife and our daughters.  Nothing beats the smile on a youth's face!

Good one. Look at the size of the bases on his rack. He may be regressing. He looks old.

That's awesome!

I too am taking 2 new hunter out this year.  My Son-in-law and my Brother-in-law.  The excitement I see in their eyes is a great thing to witness.  When my son and wife tell them what to expect in elk camp and where we hunt, they hang on our every word.  I remember those days myself when I was first starting out.

I love helping and watching other people harvest game than I do harvesting game myself.  Guess at 53 I'm officially becoming the "old guy "in camp. :)  But I'll take it.

Gary
One does not hunt in order to kill; on the contrary, one kills in order to have hunted. If one were to present the sportsman with the death of the animal as a gift he would refuse it. What he is after is having to win it, to conquer the surly brute through his own effort and skill with all the extras that this carries with it: the immersion in the countryside, the healthfulness of the exercise, the distraction from his job. ~ Jose Ortega y Gasset

Good luck to you and the young man! Hope you guys have a great time. I'll be out with my Son & Daughter. Little chance my daughter will top her buck from last year, but with her luck, I would not be surprised...

Beautiful buck.  We're headed to the Alta unit in search of my 16-year-old grandson's first buck.  Hopefully, we will have pictures to post !!
