Trail Cam Question
« on: May 02, 2009, 03:37:01 PM »
One of my hunting buddies has an older 35mm trail cam. We've only used it a couple times with no success. We've been putting apples in a very active spot. We decided that we might as well try putting the trail cam up. From your expierences with trail cams. How long should we let this one soak? What kind of quality should we expect from the camera? Some day I would like to get a digital, or a home brew but for now we are working with what we have.
It's not the size of the trophy that make's it a trophy.

Dont expect a whole lot.  You are limited with pictures.  You put a 24 pic roll in, thats how many pics it will take. Sometimes you will get an extra.  Not sure on the time between pics but I would guess 1 minute.  So, say a deer is eating apples for 1 hour you will be out of film.  Digitals are worth the money.

Thanks for the heads up. I put out a bunch of apples a couple weeks ago. When I went back the other day they where all gone. I took in another load of apples the other day. Then a couple day's later we took the trail cam in. While we where there we did some looking around. We found a pile of crap on a stump probably 50 yards away that had some apple skins in it. Any idea what would do that? Coyote, coon, bobcat?  :dunno: It was way to big to be a bird.

I am sure it would be a bear.  They love apples.  Could also be coyote.
