My first call in.
« on: May 03, 2009, 06:32:34 PM »
I was heading to my cousins house out on Offet lake this morning. Heading down stedman taking my time I looked down the green strip where the pipe line is on ft lewis and out about 150yrds was a bear eating on some grass. I pull my truck over and walking in about 30yrds in the wood line and pull out the new diamond wood call closed reed that Rick sent me and start calling a little low and the bear turns and looks my way then goes back to eating I wait a few seconds and WA WA a little loader he turns my way and walks about 20yrds to me as I keep calling. So he is about 100yrds at this time. At this point I stop calling and he just keeps looking my way then turns and walks away. This was my first time calling a bear I have seen. It was great. GREAT CALL RICK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It was GREAT! Could set and do something like that all day long. Been learning how to call for 3 yrs and never had any luck. So to do this today was great. It was fun to use one of Ricks calls to do it with. I was only 5 minutes from Ricks house when I did it. Maybe he planted the bear for me. :chuckle:

Thats awesome.  I cant wait to call in a black bear.  I would love to see the bears reaction to the call instead of calling blindly.  I have a matching set of Rick's calls ordered cant wait to try them out.

I was going out to pick up a motor really did not think I would need a camera. I have traveled that road hundreds of time and never even seen a deer.

I know, it can be tough to always carry a camera.

Hey Cw/B....haven't read too many of your posts since you blew up your Dodge many moons ago.  If you're ever desperate to have someone cover your backside while call'in, let me know.  I'm retar..I mean retired & could work out the time...besides you can depend on me & my 45-70 to cover you since I'm too old to run eh?  I have a genuine BKR call but need some experience (sure got some Blacktails excited last season).

Not Ricks fault by the way....
By my honorable conduct as a hunter let me give a good example and teach new hunters principles of honor, so that each new generation can show respect for their god, other hunters and the animals, and enjoy the dignity of the hunt.

Calling an illegal alien an 'undocumented immigrant' is like calling a drug dealer an 'unlicensed pharmacist'.
