RIMFIRE BUILDS
« on: May 06, 2009, 06:27:40 PM »
Hey just recently started getting into building and accurizing rifles and have a few rimfire rifles and thought it would be fun building and accuring a few of my little rimfire 22's

Know i know alot of people out there have probably done the same, but does anyone have pictures of what they have done? Sure love to see your projects and what your working on and what you have done.....Ill post pictures of what im doing later.

I Purchased 3 different rifles(all broken, knowing that ide be replacing item broke, or could fix it during the build)
2 of 3 fixed completely so far and third waiting on parts.

MY 3 RIMFIRE RIFLES AND WHAT IM PLANNING....
Ruger 77/22 MAG All Weather SS...... (Gonna turn this baby into a bull barreled match gun, boyd stock, works)

Marlin Model 60...... (Trigger job, make stock fancy, re-blue, and fix old mdl 60 Jamming problem.)

Marlin Model 70...... (Bullpup conversion plus trigger job, change out trigger linkage, make stock sturdier, paint)

Three good rifles. I just finished building my own 77/22 Target.

I recommend you go with the Jard trigger, by far superior than any other aftermarket trigger.

Typical 5 round 25 yard group.

That 60 should be fun. The 70 will also but the only difference is one is detachable mag fed and the other is tube.

My current project.

Good luck. Building rimfires is something I love to do.

I worked over a 77/22 mag, bull barrel and laminated stock.
Had a real big gun feel. shot tight at 50yds, spread to about 2moa at 100 and I wasn't happy with that.
Traded it off....maybe should have kept it and converted to 17HMR....
Don't really miss it.
Can't speak for the others except enjoy the process and don't hope for a miracle.
Those old 60's and 70's won't really return your $ investment so consider it a hobby.

i've got 3 10/22's one of which is waiting on me to decide on a barrel. i picked up a b/c anschuetz target stock off ebay, most all of the little internal stuff and mag release. just need to settle on a barrel and then put it together.
the other one is the 1st gun my dad bought me as a kid so that'll stay as is and the other one i might do something different with.
i've got a 60 too, but it isn't doing anything but collecting dust.
i have an old marlin bolt action .22, single shot, no mag, etc. i can't recall the model.  :dunno: anybody? probably from the 70's.

I put a complete custom trigger in my 10/22, helps to know the owner  ;) I set it high because it is going to be a small game rifle primarily as well as a target rifle.

Your Marlin is most likely a model 80. One of the most common 22's on the used market, considering the still use the same basic design in the 980. A very good rifle also. Decently accurate, very reliable. Mags are easy to find also.
