There are a few bobwhites running around here. My wife gets a kick out of me whistling at them while I am working around the place. Last summer I called one up to within 15 feet of us while we were sitting on the porch enjoying the sun.

If you look in the bird books, most will have a little dot of their range being about Yakima. It isn't very big.

It helps that Big R and Yakima Co-op both sell Bobwhite chicks every spring and many of those end up in the wild somehow. I know I've seen a few at my buddies place above where Wenas creek meets the Yakima River.
