photo's on this site?

Why does this forum degrade photo quality so bad? Every photo I post is crystal clear photo then when put on here it looks like it went from 14mp to 4 mp. Its the only site that does this

I believe it is because of the amount of pictures that get posted and server storage. @bearpaw can probably explain it better
