NOVA funds to be stolen.......
« on: May 14, 2009, 12:37:25 PM »
Need everyones help to stop the govoner from steeling the funds from the NOVA and placing them in to the general fund.

For those of you that do know about the NOVA funds, it is the moneys collected from OHV tabs and taxes used to help maintain the OHV progects in the state. These moneys help keep our trails open for OHV use. If this money is taken away from us it could result in closure of OHV areas.

Send a letter or an email to the govoner in protest of the theft of the money.

OK just print it out sign and address it and send it. Or amend it if you wish just do something.

Dear Governor Gregoire:
As you know, the NOVA account consists of monies from off-road vehicle license tab fees and funds raised when off-road vehicle users waived their right to a fuel-tax refund. Off-road vehicle enthusiasts were told that the money raised through these funds would go towards developing and managing recreational opportunities for users of back-country trails and non-highway roads.

I believe this shifting of dollars from the NOVA account is unfairly being placed into the general fund. The funds raised by off-road vehicle fees which were specifically set aside for recreational projects will now be used for other unrelated purposes in the operating budget. This is an irresponsible budget shell game. Furthermore, these funds are protected by the Washington State Constitution, Pursuant to Article II, Section 40 these monies must be used for their intended purpose or refunded. The State Supreme court has repeatedly reaffirmed this requirement. I ask that you veto this portion of the budget.
Thank you for your support.
