Nikon 550 rangefinder / prostaff BDC scope package
« on: May 09, 2009, 06:14:30 PM »
Anyone seen these packages with the scope and the rangefinder from Nikon? I know the quality of the rangefinder but what about the scope? Joes has the package deal for $209, just wondering if the scope is a POS or???

:)I have never owned a Nikon scope, I bought a 550 Nikon rangefinder and found it to be VERY POOR, in any bad light or shade it would not read at all.
I paid 200 sold it 2 months later for 150.

That's good to know Bofire, I have actually owned several Nikon rangefinders without problems and assumed the quality would have been the same. I'll take that into consideration. They won't open the package to let me look through the scope so I was really hesitant on the purchase so I held off so far.

I've owned 3 rangefinders. So far the Nikon 550 is my favorite, one button push readout and very accurate. Never owned a Nikon scope so can't comment on em.

At 209 for the pair I can't imagine you can go wrong.  Neither product is top notch but geez at a 100 bucks a piece you're not gonna find anything close to that price/performance ratio.

I guess it depends on what your expecations and needs are but it sounds like a good deal to me.

Intruder I was thinking the same thing, I'll probably stop by on Friday and if they still have a set I'll pick them up. I want it more for the rangefinder as my wife needs one but it couldn't hurt to have an extra scope lying around.

I did pick this up the other day at Joes for $209.00, rangefinder seems to be of good quality as does the scope. I'm actually pretty excited to put the BDC scope on my daughters .243. I think it will be a hell of alot easier under pressure to have her put a circle on the target rather than hold over. Thanks for everyones input!
