It’s tough to get that close to a bull and his herd, if it happens again, and he bugles, cut off his bugle with yours.  And start raking a tree, cut his bugle off every time when you are within his circle and he’s not coming to cow calls. Great hunt so far, keep at it! And remember when you release that arrow to level up and open your grip hand, relax that hand!!

Well, I never did get back on to the elk... Lots of hiking around but they moved someplace else. I'll have to wait until the late season now. Thinking about coastal units, but I have a lot of research to do. I'll primarily be e-scouting but have a few guys I know I'll tag team with for a portion of the time.

Thanks for coming along for the ride! It was a really exciting start to elk hunting for me, and I'm definitely excited to learn from all my trips and come back more equipped and wiser the next time. I'll update this thread again once the season starts back up.
