that lense isn't that big. it's $10k because it holds a constant f2.8 across the whole zoom range.
it's big, don't get me wrong, but my little fz18 stretched out to 18x is the equivalent of 528mm or something like that.

Jackelope is right.  Its all about 2.8 at 400mm+  I would seriously love to have that bad dog on a real camera.  In the meantime its me with my $400 outfit.  :)
