Entiat Buck #2... story and pics.
« on: November 16, 2007, 04:29:55 PM »
After getting "Tom" tagged out on Friday, I hooked up with Shags buddy and son on Sunday night to see if we could get Lane his buck(The son Lane is 12 and a heckuva kid, great hunter and fun to be around, he was the one with the Tag).  We headed back to a different spot I'd been seeing bucks at and right away glassed up 4 or 5 different bucks with does.  I found this nice 3 point with a couple does and another 2 point and we got the spotter on them.  Lane looks at the buck and says "Oh ya he's NICE, I'd be happy with that buck!"  So away we went!

The three of us put a classic 200 yard stalk on this buck and topped the ridge with the buck 100 yards or so below us.  The buck spooked and ran 30 yards but stopped.  Lane sat down on his butt and shouldered his Ruger 300 Win Mag (yep, he's a *censored*!).  First shot was a miss and the buck ran to the next finger ridge and turned broadside at 150 yards... Lane did an AWESOME job calming himself down for the second shot and took out both lungs dropping the buck in his tracks!  Hi fives all the way around and we made our way to the downed buck!  A big thanks to Andy (another guy we met!) who came over and helped me haul out the halved deer!  Father and Son were STOKED about the buck and it was the boys biggest buck to date (by far).

That kid is pumped!!!  thats a great 3x3.  It's one of those bucks that keeps getting bigger evertime you look at it!!  Great job mike!!!!!!!!!!!!  It could be a mulie cross.  I saw it.  Two days later also watched a good 3x3 white tail buck mate a whitetail doe within a 1/4 mile from where this buck was shot.  Who knows?

Nice 3 point!  Good going Michael.  Thanks for the updates.  I see no whitetail influence on that buck.
