Tulalip
« on: May 26, 2023, 04:36:25 PM »
I fished the opener today.  Four hours, no runs, no hits, no errors.  But it was a beautiful morning and I was with about 150 of my fellow fisher folk.  I did see 2 fish caught, so it was better than usual.

How did the e-kicker work out?

Mixed review on the e-kicker.  It runs fine on the e-bike battery but that battery gets hotter than I’m comfortable with.  So, I put 4, 36-amp hour LiFePO4 batteries in series and that seems to be working fine.  Trolled for 4 hours at speeds from 2.5 to 3.2mph, no problems.  I’m not sure how much battery I have left after that.

I haven’t got used to the high-pitched whine of the motor.  It’s about the same sound level as my Yamaha F8, but different.

It is a whole lot easier to operate and it’s a lot less weight on the stern.

For a $320 motor, it is pretty impressive.  But then the batteries cost more than the motor.

I’ll keep using it.

Sounds about right, I hear reports all the time of them stacking fish like cordwood but it's always the day before or the day after I go.  I usually see 2-8 fish caught in 100 boats.

Anyone else try the Tulalip?  I haven't heard any reports.
