depends on the cartrige. a barnes is pretty much necessary in somthing like a lazzaroni and is way overkill in a 218bee.

ever see a nozzy bal tip or a sierra at super rates of speed? it ain't good for anything other than dogs. a barnes, partition, swift a frame..... will stay together enough to make the trip through an elk.

I agree only on the elk part, and that would be from any gun with those bullets.

They are not on the list, but I shoot "North Fork" bullets. They are alot like a trophy bonded bear claw. I do shoot a Sako TRGS that is chambered in Lazzeroni Warbird 7.82 and these pills have performed flawlessly in everything from black bear to moose. I've killed bear , whitetail, mule deer and moose all with the same 180 gr North Forks and I wont shoot anything else. I recommend to anyone that has not tried them. If you give them a try guys I'm sure you will like them ALOT!!

Most ballistic tips are made for dogs.  But some are made for big game the nosler accubond is for big game and it is a ballistic tip.  And it will go through any elk...

Hornady interbonds work great. I had problems with bullets blowing apart until I went to these. Accu-bonds work great also, they have a little better balistic coefitiant than the interbond. I shoot a 300 win mag and also a 308 Norma magnum.

  just cause the bullet has a plastic tip does not mean it's a 'balistic tip'. the 2 bullets, accubonds and balistic tips could not be more different. bt's are designed to pretty much EXPLODE, and that they do.... nothing like the accubond. and i agree, the accubond, or any other well constructed bonded bullet will penetrate further than anything other than maybe a barnes x bullet. i shoot 140gr handload accubonds.

Changed to Barnes TSX this year....300weatherby and 7mmMag.  Still shoot 180grain PSP core lock in the .06 ..... all are lethal.

All have killed Elk and Deer for me . I pick the one that shoots the best in the rifle that I'm useing at the time , and gives ME the best preformance .

Used Winchester 150gr. XP for deer this year, did the trick, but did fragment a bit, but it hit the far shoulder as he was walking, so it is expected.
Have not found the load that my new Tikka T3 .300wsm prefers yet.............

My 270 has never had anything but nozler partitions, 130 & 150 grain. The 30-06 I shot 200 gr. nozler partition for my grizzly. For deer, elk, black bear etc. I shoot the cheaper 180 hornaday interlock or 150 gr. sierra. I believe the most important thing is how accurate your rifle shoots a certain load. If you do your part with a good hit any major brand game bullet will do it's part.
