Winston- Rifle Cow Elk Tag
« on: June 14, 2023, 07:39:07 PM »
Got lucky and drew one of the few rifle cow elk tags for the Winston unit. Only 10 years since my last cow tag in this state! If anyone has any suggestions for success on this hunt I'm all ears. Not familiar with the unit so I will be making a few visits this summer/fall prior to the season opening in early November. A preliminary look at the map and I believe I will need a Weyerhaeuser permit for the Longview/St. Helens tree farm. Can anyone confirm this is the one I'll need? Or a different one. Thanks for any input!

I would definitely get the Weyerhaueser permit and yes, it's Longview
Charlie Kirk didn't speak hate, they hated what he said. Don't get it twisted.

You will absolutely need that weyco permit.   Lots of pressure in that unit nowadays.    Get to scouting as soon as you can and hunt the edges of the unit.  Them elk will move once the season starts.

Remind me when the time comes. I will see if I can help you out. Yes. Try to get a St. Helens permit!

Definitely need a Weyco pass. You should have a good chance to fill that tag. Lots of elk in that unit. Some portions of the tree farm are better than others.

If you dont get a weyco permit I may know of a few areas that hold elk.
Also try for the walk in if you cant get motorized.
