Mineral lake fishing access?

Thinking of taking my dad to mineral tomorrow, haven’t been in a decade or so, can you still fish off that pier? Talking the mineral lake in Lewis county past Elbe. Thanks

 If you mean the dock by the resort, I think? they charge. There is the public boat launch, has a dock, and I think two other handicap fishing dock/decks. Lots of people fish from the bank at the boat launch.

Yeah I was thinking at the public boat launch, but my dad is disabled so maybe we can fish there? It will be 3 of us.

To the side of the public boat ramp, they have a public fishing dock. I remember fishing from it a couple times in the 90s, without much luck though. If I remember correctly, the resort use to rent boats. Even a row boat would improve you catch ability dramatically on Mineral lake.

Yeah you can absolutely fish there - prob a $10 cost or so each to do it from the dock. I took my daughters there a few years back and can't remember - something like $30 to rent a rowboat for a few hours.  We didn't catch anything but then again we got there late and my girls were 'baiting' their hooks with goldfish (the cracker kind). Seemed like the bite was finishing about the time we got on the water (9:30 am or so)

The Resort dock is the one you have to pay for. The Public doc is to the right of the Boat ramp by the parking turn around. You can see it on Maps.

The resorts rents pontoon boats for $160 a day on the weekends, the other resort (lions club?) by the tavern, doesn’t rent row boats anymore, they charge $10 each to fish off their docks.  We fished the boat launch dock, tried every kind of bait and way, not a single bite.  After about 4 hours we had lunch at Elbe tavern and tried alder lake at the Tacoma water park, no bites there either. But, was a good day w pops, and much better day than working! Next time, we need to bring a boat to mineral!

Dock to the south of the launch is free. The bank is good fishing too. But definitely worth renting a boat. I think they might even have a couple pontoons they rent too. Wedding ring tipped with a worm and you'll slay them. If you get bored of trolling cast a Rapala in towards shore

I have to agree with both Buckhunter24 and Trophyhunt. Mineral Lake is a trolling lake. I have never had much luck from dock or shore. Trolling I can’t remember ever not limiting. You might even be surprised with a 5+ lb rainbow or a huge Brown.
Even if you were to get skunked, the Mountain View is worth the trip!

when we were younger, a group of good friends and I would camp in the woods ( now you can’t) every opener, great memories made! But the highlight for me and one of my friends was boating over to camp in our row boat and at that moment when Mt Rainier appears about half way down the lake- that’s when we’d tapp the keg! Man I miss those days!

It appears that Mineral was stocked with a bunch of browns. Those should be nice size fish next year. 
I might try it next year.

Mineral is stocked in late fall with 100,000 fingerling rainbow. Then Again in spring with catchable size rainbow and Brown trout, with a large amount of jumbo rainbows. Mineral also has a decent resident population of coastal cutthroat trout and Large mouth.
It is not uncommon to see a 5-10 lb rainbow or a hefty Brown caught.
 I caught a 5.8 lb rainbow back in 2002 while trolling mineral. And a 8 lbr was caught the same day.

I was talking to a WDFW officer in 2010 ish. I asked him how many of the fingerlings planted in The fall made it to adulthood?

He said we have an ongoing debate wether the fingerlings actually survive or create a massive biomass of food for this catchable fish planted in spring. Either way it seems to produce good sized bright fish!

Interesting, I've never caught a cutthroat out of mineral but I don't doubt their in there. I've fished it twice in the last week. Buddy caught one small brown. The other trip was with the kids we didn't get a bite, but then again we fished from noon to 2 

My uncle caught a real big brown a couple decades ago. If I remember right it was around 6 pounds but it seems to have grown to 8 last I heard the story
