First attempt at 50
« on: May 27, 2009, 12:17:29 PM »
Today during my lunch break I went out to make my first serious attempt to sight my 50 yard pin in.  At first, I was all over the place.  To be expected.  But after a few 3 shot volley's, my groups started to tighten up.  My last group was about 3 inches, so I figured I would stop on a positive note.  Is 3 inches a good group at 50 for a novice who's been shooting less than a year?

Thanks.  Honestly, I think luck had a bit to do with it.  I should add that I would never even think about launching an arrow at an animal at this distance.  I plan on shooting at my first 3D shoot next month and need my 50 and 60 yd pins dialed in.  I guess some of the targets are out there a ways.  :dunno:

If you practice, 50 yards is not that far of a shot.  But you must be comfortable with it to attempt it.

I would feel comfortable shooting at an animal at 50 if I can make that shoot consistently.  3 inch group is great, but screw on a broad head and see if you can do that 3 for 3.

Good shooting for me is a group the size of the vitals. I dont shoot competition so its not neccessary. As long as your consistantly a kill shot on the range that is all that matters.

3" group at 50 is sweet!!

3" group at 50 yards with broadheads is excellent.  Congrats, hopefully you can maintain that consistency.  Good shooting!
I didn't say it was your fault, I said I was blaming you.
If I ageed with you, then we'd both be wrong.

Good job but you can do better.  Keep it up until you can make 3" groups at 90 yards.  Do that and you will be ruining arrows at 50.
