A Solemn tribute to my hero: Walt Disney
« on: June 09, 2009, 11:32:51 PM »
Mr Disney has done so much to further the cause of hunters world wide over the years by bringing such wonders to the silver screen as Bambi and the Fox and the Hound that I have been wondering what I could do to honor a progressive forward thinker such as him.

While watching the Lion King for what MUST be the one millionth time, it finally hit me.

Quick disclaimer:  The base was damaged in shipping and has not been repaired yet.  I was able to strategically place some stones to cover up most of the damage.  The final product will be a little bit cleaner and there will be no cracks.  Also, I cannot get photos of the warthog to come out well.  The flash washes out the color and makes it greyer than it is in person.  and the tan dirt spots under they eyes blend in much better than the photos demonstrate.  I guess Pumba is a bit photo shy.

So without further Adieu, here is my tribute to Disney

Hakuna matata-Let there be no worries...  At least for these guys.

My wife is thrilled...  (not)

"You shot a warthog and you're going to do WHAT with it?"

its funny mention bambi, i was watching bambi with my little girls yesterday and i was looking at his dad thinking " well his tops are kinda weak but he's got a good spread and a lot of mass, hmmm ya he's a shooter" all part of the sickness i guess. nice mounts by the way. looks like you must have a pretty good job or one hell of a credit card bill

Thats pretty funny...  Guess I'll need to re-watch that show some time.

Taxidermy costs in total were roughly = to the cost of the trip.  These will last my lifetime so I'm pretty happy with the choice.

Here are the stat cards for the Steenbok and warthog.  (First shot on the steenbok was a clean miss)

The shot on the Warthog was with a 250 grain Barnes with a .338 at 60 yards.  The bullet did not exit!  Those are tough pigs.
