« on: January 20, 2024, 08:49:48 AM »
Looking for someone to possibly apply with/strategize on controlled hunts in Idaho my usual hunting partners aren’t as committed.

with no points and a 10% cap on NR tags nothing is really very easy to draw and lots of luck. Last 10 years tags have probably doubled in odds to draw

I've drawn two bull permits and one either sex tag in the last four years. They may not have been the elite units but I had a great time each year and had my pick of elk. You can't go if you don't apply.

I’ve drawn 8 deer tags and 1 bull tag in 20 years.   Some pretty good ones at that.

Is there any restrictions on putting in for controlled elk if you already have a general unit elk tag?

no but you can only hold a controlled hunt tag as a first tag so you would have to relinquish your general tag in order to claim your controlled hunt tag.
