Expensive Card Readers???

Is there a big benefit to buying an expensive card reader vs just getting a $70-80 digital camera that takes an SD card? 

 I figure it would be better to get the camera, then you could take pics with it too.

I just use my digital camera.  Or an even cheaper solution is to get 2 SD cards and a USB card reader that you can just put the card into.  Just swap out SD cards when you go check the cam.  OR....some computers/printers have SD slots built in.  Of course if you want to see the pics in the field, then the camera would be the way to go.

my camera wont display my trail cam pics for some reason, so i had to buy a card reader.

a card reader is the cheapest way to go, but they do have the card readers that display from moultrie for like 45.00 that is what I got and it works great.

I take extra SD cards with me bring the used 1 home my printer has ports for all the different cards. Look at them on the comp. delete bad ones then file the ones I want to keep and it was a pretty inexpensive printer. as far as the camera not showing you the pictures you have to format the card to the camera when the card is empty put it in your camera and take a picture with it and then look at it if you can see it then it should work when you use the camera as a viewer.

Oops-   I meant expensive card viewers (not readers) vs camera for "in the field" viewing.  I have the extra cards to swap out and can view everthing on my confuser when I bring a card home.  Thought it would be nice to take a look at what was being shot right on location.  Could use it during set up too, to ensure camera is dialed in/ pointed at the right area.

i have a moultrie cam and the moultrie viewer plugs right in the cam to see the pics in the field.

Camera works great for me< I swap cards and check it on site, plus I have gotten great shot while driving in and out. Mark
