Get onX on your phone, download some maps and fill your tank up. Great time of year to get down there and start scouting.

There’s basically Weyerhaeuser permit area hunting and everything else. The other timber co land are smaller blocks huge areas are no trespassing (mostly leases I think), quite a bit is walk-in behind gates, and a few allow some drive-in on main lines. Not many secret spots - pretty much every resident in the harbor hunts.

Scouting will be needed and you likely won’t be the only vehicle at a gate during modern firearm seasons. If you narrow down an area I might be able to help with some more specific info.

Onx shows a lot of Weyerhaueser lands, that's all pay to play. Their website has the permit info and if any are available.
State land towards and around Chehalis prolly a better bet IMO

Most of that is Rayonier property and they also require a permit.

Around the beach is super thick.  Well, pretty much the whole county is thick :chuckle:

The biggest issues have been stated, I’ll add that the most frustrating part of hunting that area is that most of the public land is landlocked behind weyco and rayonier gates. I lived and hunted in the harbor for several years before I moved back inland, and in a short time frame watched a lot of the land go from wide open, to walk-in, to paid permits.

I always saw more deer closer to civilization, probably safer from the predators there. Best bets for access  are going to be to look for port Blakey land (free walk in) or get a green diamond walk in pass (relatively affordable, motorized is sold out for the year)
you can still get gas in heaven, and a drink in kingdom come,
in the meantime, i'll be cleaning my gun
